Gum Disease
What is Periodontal disease?
Periodontal disease ranks as one of the most common disease in the United States, affecting approximately 80 percent of American adults to some degree. It occurs when bacteria and plaque builds up under the gum. Gums become red and swollen, eventually leading to periodontal disease. Left untreated, it may lead to tooth loss and may contribute to chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis and diabetes. With regular periodontal screening and rigorous treatment and care, we can stop periodontal disease in its tracks.

- Constant bad breath or bad taste in the mouth
- Pus between teeth

Microsphere Technology - The Cure
With painless Microsphere Technology, we’ll quickly and effectively destroy the germs that cause periodontal disease by administering an antibiotic directly into the infected areas of the gums.
Scaling and Root Planing
We use this non-surgical treatment first to avoid having to perform periodontal flap surgery or gingivectomy.
Scaling involves the deep cleaning or scraping of the tooth usually below the gum line to remove plaque and calculus that has accumulated on the tooth.
Planing involves scraping the tooth’s root surface until it is smooth. This eliminates calculus deposits on the root, the breeding grounds for harmful bacteria.
